Eid al-Fitr, a significant Islamic religious holiday, is approaching. It marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, obligatory for Muslims.
Eid al-Fitr, a major Islamic religious holiday, will be observed from April 10th to April 11th this year, with celebrations extending over a week. Official holidays in the country will be observed from April 8th to April 15th. Immigration offices, along with all government institutions, will be closed during this period.
This means that the flow of local tourists to the Island of the Gods, despite the predominantly Hindu population, will significantly increase. If you plan to travel around the island or attend any events, restaurants, attractions, etc., during these dates, it is advisable to book everything in advance.
Perry Markus, the secretary of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association, noted, "The occupancy rate during the Eid al-Fitr holidays is likely to increase to 70-80% compared to the current average occupancy rate of 50-60%." He also added that hotel room prices are expected to increase.
Of course, hotels and restaurants want to capitalize on these holidays. An increase in boat occupancy to nearby islands such as Gili, Nusa Penida, and Lembongan is also expected. If you plan to visit these islands, it is advisable to purchase tickets in advance.
The Bali Department of Transportation predicts that over one and a half million people will visit Bali during the holidays, which is 20% more than last year. In addition to tourists traveling by planes, guests from other Indonesian cities will also arrive on their own transport. It is expected that the number of cars on the roads will increase by 180 thousand units during this time.
Authorities are concerned about the readiness of public transport to carry passengers. Changes are being made to the traffic flow to optimize movement. In some areas, U-turns will be temporarily prohibited, barriers will be installed, and the use of non-motorized means of transport such as horse-drawn carts and bicycle rickshaws will be restricted.
